Spring Fun

Thank you for sticking around while I get caught up on my posts!! Spring of 2019 was a tough time for us. But we had plenty of spring fun that soothed the stress.

We were extremely nervous about the heartworm diagnosis and treatment for Kailani. We didn’t know how bad the heartworms actually were but if there was even one worm, it was too many. As the days got closer to her first treatment, my stress level began to intensify. We would take them walking, trying to keep the walk light so as not to make Kai’s heart work too hard. So instead of a walk, it was more like a Sunday stroll, stopping to roll in the grass, sniff out dead earthworms, and read all the latest gossip on the fire hydrants. All the while, we knew the strolls would come to an end as soon as her treatment started so we enjoyed them while we could.

Kai’s Last Walk Before Treatment

These are pictures from the last stroll that Kai was able to go on before her heartworm treatment began. She adores rolling in the grass wherever we go and Auggie got in on the grass-staining fun. I could only stand by, laughing, and waiting for the roly-poly-fest to end. I didn’t have the heart to make her stop because she was having having the best time. As we walked, the sun started to sink, creating the perfect scene for our last walk until she has finished treatment.

Birthdays!

We also celebrated birthdays!! Nothing is better than spending time with friends. Laughter and love with friends makes the life journey worthwhile.

Birthday dinner

We also celebrated MY birthday!! Every year gets better and better. This year, my mom and sister decorated the yard with a huge Happy Birthday sign, gave me a really great gift basket full of tons of wonderful things, and this beautiful cake – made by my mom, of course. Kym had a huge day planned for my birthday. We went to GetOut in Tyler and then went to eat at Happy’s Fish House. It was our first time doing a GetOut room and we couldn’t stop talking about it afterwards!! I love puzzles/brain work and we love working out problems together because our brains work so differently. I can’t wait to go back and try a different room.

Easter

Easter is always a time to celebrate! We enjoyed a beautiful day of being together and hunting Easter eggs. Notice the picture of mom, Traci, and Kynlee? I am surprised I was able to get a picture that wasn’t blurry because I was laughing so hard. All I can say is thank goodness for iPhone camera technology. Traci decided to help Kynlee by holding her cute little Easter basket. The basket was full of all the Easter eggs she had collected from the yard. I mean FULL. She probably couldn’t have put another egg in it!! Anyway, without warning, the bottom of the basket dropped out and all the eggs crashed to the ground, leaving Traci stunned and unable to do anything but laugh. We all heard the crash. I was afraid someone had fallen so when I spun around and saw Traci standing with an empty Easter basket and staring at the eggs like she was scolding them, I roared!!! We all laughed to the point of tears!

At home, we stuffed some treats into Easter eggs and let Auggie and Kai search for them. They love hide-and-seek so it was just as fun for them as it was for us. We were able to grab a few pictures of them as they trampled through the flowers looking for Easter eggs.

KAI IRIS

Thank you for following my journey……all the miniature and mundane memories as well as the large and meaningful.

Treat this day as a blessing because there are so many people who don’t get the chance to enjoy this day.
