Food, Friends, and Fun

One of my goals in this journey of life is to enjoy every day and I hope I can inspire you to enjoy your days, too.  The little things, the big things, the free things, the expensive things, the mundane things, and the exciting things.  We are not guaranteed any specific number of days and we should always remember to be thankful for each and every journey, and every day that we get to spend with our friends and family.

Try New Restaurants

McKee’s Soul Food LLC in Marshall, Texas is a restaurant we wanted to try after seeing a facebook post from a friend.  The menu is very diverse with items such as hamburgers, fried fish, chicken fried steak, and pork chops.  There are way too many food options to list!!!

The cheeseburger was absolutely delicious.  It was a perfectly cooked, hand pressed patty with all the veggies on warm, toasted buns.  The french fries were crisp and soft with just the right amount of seasoning.  I would highly recommend taking time to eat at McKee’s Soul Food LLC!  It is home cooking from people who genuinely want to provide the best food.  The restaurant is located at 211 North Wellington St, Marshall, TX 75670, which is located near the downtown.  Christmas season is coming soon and the Marshall square will be illuminated with lights so get ready to walk the streets under the glow of hundreds of Christmas lights.  This will be the perfect opportunity to grab a home cooked meal at McKee’s before you enjoy the atmosphere on the square.

55th Birthday Party

My wonderful friend, Denise, celebrated her 55th birthday this year!!

Food, Friends, and Fun

A fun-filled night full of games, laughter, and friends.  We had a snack spread, cake, and ice cream cones with all the fixins!!  It was somewhat of a surprise for Dee.  She knew that some people were gathering for game night but she didn’t know that a full party had been planned.  The weather was great and we sat on the porch playing games and celebrating Dee.  I cannot tell you how loud the jumbo, yard Jenga game is!!  No matter how many times it collapsed, it was still shocking each time it fell.

Trying to get a group picture with all of us was almost impossible!!  This still isn’t all of us, but it’s as close to complete as we could get.

Check out the cake for Dee’s birthday!!  It was a whipped icing cake that Nub got from Albertsons!!  Delish!  I ate a piece of cake and had to have an ice cream cone, too, because when there is ice cream……you should always enjoy it.  I had to eat my ice cream cone over the sink because I made it so messy!!  Blue Bell vanilla ice cream with caramel drizzled over it, coated in magic shell, dusted with chocolate sprinkles, and stuffed into an ice cream cone.  MAN!!

Happy birthday Denise!!  We love you and we had a blast celebrating with you!!

Food Trucks

Food, Friends, and Fun

The weather is getting better!!  So we decided have a picnic day!!  We packed some stuff for the dogs and we found the Street Licious food truck for us.  We ordered the Pulled Pork & Spicy Mac and we drove to the park to have our picnic lunch with Kai and Auggie.

The sandwich was really good.  Messy.  But good.  The sandwich was $9.  For some unknown reason, I assumed that a sandwich would come with chips, but it didn’t.  That was fine because the sandwich was big enough.  However, if I had known it didn’t come with chips, I would have ordered some or brought some when I packed our picnic stuff for the dogs.  I just like having chips when I have a sandwich.  Weird, I know.  But even without the chips……..pulled pork and mac and cheese stuffed between bread and grilled to perfection.  OMG.  It was wonderful.  Grilled cheese sandwiches have always been a guilty pleasure!!!

After our picnic, the sky started getting dark so we went to Lowes to get some stuff we needed.  Kai and Auggie love going into Lowes because they enjoy seeing all the people and getting attention.  We spent a while walking around and laughing at Kai’s response to the Halloween decorations!!  She was so curious about the wicked laugh coming from the witch!!

As luck would have it, we found a shaved ice food truck before we left the area!!  WooHoo!!

This awesome and adorable food truck is run by 2 ladies who are just getting started.  Two Broke Girls Shaved Ice is from Marshall, Texas but we were lucky enough to catch them in Longview.  Remember how delicious the snow cones were when you were a kid at the fair or a baseball game?  It’s like that, but better because there are so many more flavors!!!

Food, Friends, and Fun

We got wedding cake and strawberry cheesecake.  WOW.  It smelled so wonderful that we immediately started eating them as if we were 8 years old again!!  WAIT!!  I forgot to take a picture!!  So, the shaved ice that we received were larger and more photogenic!!
