Rainy Cold Vacation

With our playtime hindered by Kai’s recent heartworm diagnosis, we are trying to get out and go as much as possible. Sometimes it is new places to explore and sometimes it is familiar areas!

We took the dogs to Shreveport and stayed at El Dorado. We explored the area despite the cold. Just in case I haven’t made it perfectly clear…….. I hate the cold. And I am so sick of the rain. Sick. Of. It. This may sound like an exaggeration but I assure you that it’s not……..it rained the entire time we were here. There was not a moment that we could explore outside for an extended period because it was raining so much. As a laugh, the rain finally stopped the morning that we left to go home. I swear I could hear giggling. The universe must have been laughing hysterically!!!

Me and the girls generally hang out in the room after we explore the city. They sleep while I read or blog. Being able to bring them with us is one of my favorite things. From the very first time we took them to the casino, they acted like it was something they did everyday. The lights, the sounds, the people…..nothing fazed them. They strolled right in like they owned the place, tails wagging the whole time.

2 of my favorite things while I blog. Dogs and coffee.

When the mini-vacation was over and we were on the way home, we were scooting down I-20 and noticed that a lot of vehicles were exiting. Weird. We continued for a short distance before coming to a complete stop. Not slow traffic. Full stop. What the…? Ok, no biggie….we assume a wreck has happened and we will be on our way soon. We were TOTALLY wrong. We seriously sat on the interstate for approximately 2 hours before we exited. It took 2 hours to make it 4 miles. While we sat in this traffic, we did what everyone else does to pass the time …..we played and took pictures!!

Kym took this picture of Kai who was obviously sick and tired of looking at the same truck. Sick of sitting on this interstate that had turned into a parking lot. Tired of being trapped in this car.

We are also sick and tired of sitting in this car.

After we were finally reached an exit so that we could be released from the interstate, we stopped and stretched our legs and grabbed a snack before continuing home. We were thankful it didn’t last longer but we also said some prayers for anyone that was affected by the cause of the traffic.

Kai doesn’t seem to understand anything that is going on but she takes every opportunity to soak up all the love that we are showering her with. I think this is how we should live everyday – soak up every minute of love and happiness because we never know what is coming our way. And we should shower love on everyone and everything that we love.
