Bringing in the new year is always exciting, right?!?! It’s even better when you get to start the new year with great friends. Counting down the seconds to the new year is like a count down to new promises and do-overs for everything we didnt get done in the previous year.
1999 is 20 years ago!!!
It seems unreal to me that 1999, or Y2K, was 20 years ago!!! Prince’s song 1999, which was released in 1982, is a song that most of us know by heart. As a child, I never imagined what it would be like to actually be in the year 1999. Now it is 20 years later and I still feel like a 21 year old kid who has their whole life ahead of them!!
Our great friends, Dee and Tammy, hosted an amazing party that was a marvelous way to end 2018 and start 2019. We were truly blessed in 2018 but bringing in 2019 still feels like another fresh start. We’ve heard it said many times that “friends are family that we choose” but I can confidently tell you that my friends were not chosen, they were divinely placed into my life. I have been blessed beyond measure to have every single friend that is sharing my life journey. Not all of my “framily” was at this party. But, it would be relatively impossible to get all of us in one place at the same time.
Starbucks Detour with Kai & Auggie
Before going to the party, we took a small detour to Starbucks for a good ol’ white chocolate mocha and 2 puppacchinos. We tried to make it a small celebration with Kai and Auggie. We walked around Petco, explored outside, and enjoyed the weather.
Let the Party Begin!!!
This celebration had delicious food, games, and friends. Tammy made a super yummy chicken spaghetti!! We also had garlic bread, cesar salad, shrimp/crab cream cheese spread, chips, fresh veggies, guacamole, cookies, and Guadalupe Pie (my mom’s recipe). I am not ashamed to say that I ate/snacked several times for the 5+ hours that I was there. All of the food was incredible. But….being surrounded with friends and laughter is what really filled me up!! It filled my heart!!
We had the best time with these props!! Later we ended up with all kinds of different props, noise-makers, and headbands with Happy New Year on top. Jillian helped Kym get a headband on, trying to situate it over her hat. After several minutes of getting it just right, and keeping it from falling, Kym somehow realized that the headband had a feather decoration and decided she needed a new, featherless, headband so the delicate task of balancing a different headband on her hat started over!! Crazy woman!! The look on her face when she realized she was wearing a feather on her head was worth all the time it took.
Do you ever come across something that makes you break into a huge smile when you are alone? This is one of those moments for me. As I went to wash my hands in the restroom, I see this super appropriate hand soap. Could this be more perfect?!?! I say NO!! I love love love the Champagne Toast hand soap set out for us on New Years Eve!! Thank you, Dee and Tammy, for all the little touches!!
These beautiful people light up my life and make my journey amazing every day!! A few people are lingering slightly outside of the picture and a few other gorgeous people left before the 2019 selfies started!!
I am blessed to start this new year with people who are very dear to me. I hope that the love and laughter we all shared on this night continues for all of us, as well as for those that could not be there.
