End of Summer – Winter is Coming

Fall / Autumn cannot get here soon enough.  I am done with the heat!!!  Every single day I look at the weather and it shows temperatures of 98, 99, 100 degrees….but it shows the “feels like” to be 103, 105, or 108.  What is that??  Why do we have 2 different temperatures?  I mean, if it feels like 108 degrees, isn’t it 108 degrees?!?  But they say the ACTUAL temp is only 97.  OH!!!  That makes ALL the difference……I’m so much cooler now that I know it’s not quite as hot as it feels!!!  {insert eye roll here}

I love the summer.  I don’t love the smothering heat, but I love not having to layer on tons of clothes just to go grocery shopping.   And I love the summer activities……the swimming, sitting on the beach soaking up the sunshine, cookouts, hiking, picnics, sno cones, fishing, yard games, etc.  You get the picture.  Most of these can be done in the winter, it’s just not as appealing when you are wearing so many clothes that you can’t bend your legs!!

My recent weeks have been very busy so I haven’t had a chance to update the blog as much as I would have liked.  Here are a few of the pics from the last few weeks!!

Talking on the Phone to the Dogs

While away, I had the opportunity to FaceTime with Kai and Auggie!!  I could not stop laughing at how serious Kai looked while I was talking to her.  She was obviously really intrigued about what I was saying.  Can’t you hear her saying “You don’t say?!  Giiiiiirrrrlllll!!  What happened next?!?!”

Auggie was not as amused.  Apparently she doesn’t like talking on the phone.  She is like some jerk teenager who doesn’t have time to talk on the phone because I was interrupting her watching YouTube cat videos.

Staying at Dad’s House

I stayed at my dad’s house while he was out of town.  This gorgeous beach was his view.  I told him that some Vitamin Sea was good for the soul!  I enjoyed my coffee sitting on his back porch, while marveling over the amazing pictures he was sending!  I am so happy that he is out there enjoying himself at the beach.  I, too, had a great time taking care of his fur babies.

Surfside Beach

This was my view:

Odie, Hoover, Skipper

He has the sweetest dogs that love to cuddle all day.  Once I got situated in a chair, they took their places!  There are actually 4 dogs and apparently I didn’t leave enough room for all of them so they took turns pinning me to the chair.  Take a second look at the picture above…..you might have missed the dog on the floor!!  Hoover is a big ol’ loving dog with a head the size of a small car!!  He followed me everywhere and every time I made eye contact with him, he rolled over to his back so I could pet his belly!!  He is a talker, too!!  We howled at each other the whole weekend!!   Odie, the small terrier in my lap, is the cutest lil’ guy, right?!?!?  He is spunky and loving!!  He played with the toys, took them outside, and put them on the bed as though there was a nap time requirement that I did not know about.

Skipper, Daisy

Skipper and Daisy kept me in line all weekend!!  Daisy (on the left) is obviously the time keeper of the family, making sure we all keep to the schedule.  She made sure to let me know when it was time for treats and food.  She didn’t care where I was, she followed me and scolded me when I didn’t stay on the right schedule.

Winter is Coming

Summer is winding down and I am starting to plan for sweatshirts, bonfires, smores, and football.  The list of what I like to do is quite a bit shorter for winter because apparently I am like a bear and I tend to hibernate in my house when it is cold!!  I intend on breaking that habit this year!!  There are plenty of things that can be done when it is cold and I am going to do them!!  If you have some favorite cold weather activities, please share them!!!  I will be sharing the pictures and stories of my winter here on my blog!!  Stay tuned!!

Helpful App

Wunderlist

The app I would like to share with you is Wunderlist.  I use it for everything!  You can make tons of lists for all the different things you need to keep up with!!

Wunderlist

You can set specific days and reminders on all the tasks that you create.  Once you “check” the task off, it will remove it from your To Do list.

If you have an iPhone, you probably already use the daily widget that you can customize to have what you need all together in one common place (when you swipe from left to right from the Home Screen or the Lock Screen).  In mine, I have my Google Calendar, Phone Favorites, Wunderlist, Kindle, and Weather.  From this section, I can call anyone from my Favorite list just by touching their name/picture, see what is on my Calendar for the day, see what tasks I have to complete on my Wunderlist, etc.  Here is a list of what I have on my Wunderlist for today.

Wunderlist

I highly recommend this app to help you stay organized.  You can keep the info for all sorts of things in your life…create lists, add reminders, add pictures, and notes to anything.  I created a list for my vehicle so I can keep up with the VIN, License Number, Dealership and their phone number, etc.  Any relevant information about my vehicle goes into my list so I have all the info in one place.  Same thing with my house….the air filter size, home warranty info, etc.  You will find tons of ways to use this app.  It’s a major part of how I keep my sanity!!!
